We purchased a policy 17 years ago, since then we moved from Canada to the US. Once our scholarship certificate matured it was quick and easy to retrieve our funds, however be advertised that if you move to the US you will not be eligible to receive all the funds. I have spoken to a representative regarding not getting the full amount and was advised that because we moved to the US we are not entitled to some of the benefits.I found that to be unfair and not worth it.

Over the years we have had absolutely no help from this company. Once we signed up we never heard back from the representatives. We had to remind Cst to apply for the government grants. I've also received other clients information. We never gained the interest we were quoted. The staments are impossible to understand.
Not overly impressed wish I had done my own RESP'S
Good performance but a very complicated process for the Client to understand how the money flows. Way too many pools of money. My suggestion is that you type up an extremely "easy to read", "point by point" explanation of how the money grows inside the plan and the various ways that the money is redeemed from the plan.
After divorcing my husband he refused to jointly sign to release my son's CST fund. A lawyer would have cost more than what was in the CST fund so it was never used. Hind sight-have only 1 required signature.
As long as you are sending money to CST everything is rosy, but when they have to send money back to you things get complicated and numbers change suddenly. Their method of disbursement is mysterious and getting accurate numbers is difficult. I have been sending money to CST for 19 years and its never been a problem. I sent them by mistake an over payment after the plan was payed for and have been trying to get my funds back now for 5 months. Both my son and daughter joined the plan and my son's one mature in Year 2015 and my daughter was this year. No package or anything to inform me of my daughter RESP is going to be mature and when can I get back the Principle amount. Tried many ways and finally got the money back and you don't know how much just got some amount bank in your account and were in two separate payments, one for me and one for my daughter and its never match what I seen the balance was on their web site. Very friendly, accommodating, informative, until trying to access plans for school, then controlling plans as to what "their best interest" was in the "self directed"decisions made by myself. Claimimg not to have recieved forms faxed to them, not returning calls and not following requests for monies to be sent to correct people and as per forms faxed to them.
