Dave's Hot Chicken in St. Matthews absolutely lives up to the hype! The chicken was perfectly crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor. I loved that you can choose your spice level -- the medium had the perfect kick without being overwhelming. The fries were seasoned so well, and the mozz cheese sticks were a great side to split! So happy we finally got one in Louisville! The chicken is great, of course. I appreciate the options they have for the hotness level. Their fries are really yummy too and the Dave's sauce is perfect. The waits are always a bit long but that's to be expected and not a huge deal! Everyone there is nice as well and helpful with navigating the menu.

I tried the Dave's Hot Chicken in Jeffersonville a while back and nearly burned my heart out. Undaunted, I tried this Dave's as I was in the area. Some major differences. At this location, the owner (who also owns the Jeff location). Stops by every table to check on your meal. If he's busy, a staffer comes by to see if you need anything. This place sure is busy but it's Sunday afternoon. My wife went with the number 2 combo (no sauce) with fries and drink. While I went with the number 1 combo (hot) with fries and drink plus a side of reaper ranch sauce. This is not a Military friendly restaurant (sad). There is lots of flare on wall if you like graffiti art. These are some of the hugest chicken tenders I have ever had in my life.

Compared to other hot chicken options in Louisville, this is a pretty limited menu, with no option for any vegetable side choice or salad, besides cole slaw. I ordered the no heat chicken bites to share with two young kids, with Mac and cheese and fries, only to learn that both the Mac AND the fries are also spicy. The Mac was manageable but the fries were too hot for the kids and me. I ordered to go and my ticket time was about 15 minutes.

The food took way too long for the amount of people eating inside. It was cold when we got it and the hot honey sauce was mediocre at best. I was looking forward to some great food from all the hype online but it wasn't that good at all.

This is probably the best chicken place I've ever had in my whole entire life. I would eat this daily, but I'd probably get very fat very kind service and the ambience is amazing

Greeted warmly upon entering. The girl behind the counter was helpful. It was noisy enough that I had a hard time understanding her. Lots of bright graffiti like art plastered all over the walls. The food. So if you're comparing to all the other fast food places nationwide their chicken sandwich had more flavor, better texture, and fresher ingredients.
