The cabin is located in a development near a small ski area. There are quite a few homes, but most are not occupied full time. The neighborhood is quiet except when the nearby mine is operating on property behind the cabin. When that happens you can clearly hear the trucks and backup warning beepers. We heard the mine operations nearly every day of our visit, but I don't know that is normal or just something that happens occasionally. Highly recommend staying here!
Pretty great location, we were able to get to Deadwood, Spearfish, Savoy, and Keystone fairly quickly. Great scenery. Cabin was nice, but stairs are very tricky and layout was a little strange, bedrooms were all downstairs with main bathroom and stairs to get there were winding and very, very narrow. It would have been impossible for elderly person to get up and down from kitchen to bedrooms.
Perfect for a couples getaway! Very close to the ski resort and easy to find. Check in and out was extremely easy! House rules are provided so you know exactly what is expected from you to avoid additional charges. Will definitely stay again! The winding staircase is very narrow so it wouldn’t be suitable for young children or the elderly.
Beautiful cabin for a weekend. The best part was the view and indoor/outdoor fireplace. We enjoyed making s'mores in the outdoor fireplace and enjoyed the deck views. Location at Gilded Mountain is ideal (close to Spearfish Canyon and Deadwood) however the clubhouse experience was disappointing. We booked this location because of the amenities listed as available to us with the rental of the cabin. The pool and two hot tubs were not in functioning order almost the entire weekend! Beautiful place in an awesome location!
We never actually saw or visited directly with our host, but a voicemail was left for us and we received emails and text messages with basic information for accessing the house key, etc. We really liked the neighborhood - it was quiet and very scenic with the surrounding hills and pine trees.
The house is in a great location with a short walk to Main St. in Deadwood. Three of us stayed, so there was more than enough space to accommodate us. There are two bathrooms, one upstairs and one down. The one upstairs is a little tight for taller people because of the sloping ceiling, but the shower isn’t affected. There is a washer and dryer that works perfectly, and allowed us to pack a little lighter.
