My roommate and I have had a really good renting experience here! Not sure what the negative reviews are for, although the reviews are a bit older so maybe things have changed for the better. Pros: - Nice amenities included: rooftop, clubroom, gym - Whenever we did have to call maintenance (light bulb going out, etc.) they came VERY quickly; sometimes the same day I put in the request - I haven't had to chat with the management team that much, but whenever I do, they have been super kind. I stayed here for a couple of years in the Broad St. side tower. Having lived in over a dozen different apt complexes in different states over the years, here's my take on Deco.. The good: The unit itself appeared to be recently updated, clean, and I never saw any bugs or mold. Nice to have a shower instead of a tub. The common areas were pretty nice, including the gym, which never got crowded. Very close to a lot of bars, restaurants, and access to I-95. Very little noise from the street or neighbors. Deco is hands down amazing. The staff are responsive and so kind (you always see a smile on their face). The building is stunning and is always clean and the amenities are wonderful. Monthly resident events such as dinner, breakfast, paint night are a blast and treat. The area might seem a little iffy with vacant buildings but don't let that deter you. There are so many awesome places within a short walking distance (great food / restaurants only steps away).
i'm always suspicious of 5 star ratings for apartments, but deco is actually really nice. the location is great, right downtown and central to everything in rva. normal urban safety rules apply, but I never felt unsafe in the neighborhood. amenities are great, almost always clean and well-maintained. the staff is really helpful and responsive. my apt is beautiful, all new appliances, very clean when i moved in. most of the other residents are young professionals or grad students, and keep to themselves (and most importantl... read more

Staying here during a 6-month assignment. While the building and Broad Street remains under renovation, it is a wonderful place. Accessible to VCU, downtown restaurants, and places of business. I'm in a 1 bedroom unit that is just the right size. The first floor amenities are outstanding. A lounge, a club room complete with kitchen, pool tables, and lots of space for entertaining. I lived here with my wife for a year. It was an ok experience. Although the apartments are incredibly small & overpriced the amenities made up for the lack of space. The short black woman & the short white woman are extremely rude. Speaking with them was always such a pain. They seemed to not actually care about concerns regarding the apartment. DO NOT LIVE HERE. Moving out this month because this has been a terrible place to live. I should have payed a pro-rated rent, but instead they overcharged me $1,100 and made me pay the for the full month. When I contacted them about this, they told me they CAN'T REFUND ME FOR 30-45 DAYS AFTER MY LEASE ENDS. They apologized for the "inconvenience." I wouldn't call taking an extra grand out of someone's bank account an "inconvenience" as 65% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck and this complex masquerades as student h... read more

Had a chance to live here for 3 years; I would suggest living somewhere else. I chose to live here due to the nice location and superb amenities. The gym and lounge area are well appointed and a huge bonus. Unfortunately, the complex is poorly run and constantly turning over management teams (often for the worse). It's tough to track recurring problems and issues when there's a new agent to work with every day.
