I have received outstanding care, and it has been truly exceptional from the first visit through surgery and follow up. Dr. Shubin Stein is just a rock star, her PA Sarah is amazingly competent, knowledgeable and kind, and the whole team is excellent. It has been a first rate mefical experience.
I saw about 9 doctors over a few years before finally finding Dr. Shubin Stein. I love her. She is incredibly professional. She is efficient without being flippant or rude. She is not condescending, but makes sure to explain everything that is going on. I was so discouraged until I found her. Would really recommend!!!!

Zero stars.Complex cases are not welcome here. Patients who present in severe pain with a complex history are quickly and very rudely dismissed by uncaring and unempathetic staff. An iron gate with a crusty deadbolt locks out patients in pain who seek care and treatment. I am beginning to think HSS only treats patients with private insurance who are easy fixes and who do not have difficult cases.
After having surgery with Dr. Shubin Stein, she continued to dismiss my complaints of continued pain + new issues after surgery. Her success criteria was very limited to only that she did the surgery by the book, as opposed to aiming for an overall improvement in quality of motion.
I would never recommend this doctor! She pushes surgery and only reluctantly discusses non-surgical options. Additionally, she has no consideration for her patients time and keeps patients waiting without warning for long periods of time.
Absolutely not!! My wife saw Dr Shubin for shoulder pain and while I was in the examining with her I witnessed perhaps the worst bedside manner of any doctor I have ever seen. There are much better and more professional doctors than she.
In 2019 she reconstructed my MPFL, performed a lateral release (this was not part of the pre-surgical plan), and cartilage debridement. The results of this surgery were devastating. Instead of stabilizing my patella her surgery made me unable to return to every day activities such as walking(5+mins). I started having medial (inside) subluxations of my patella, which damaged my cartilage. Medial subluxations only happen after detrimental surgical interventions.
