Price doubled after only 3 months. Regardless of if it is a typical storage company scheme, it doesnt make it right. Nowhere else can a company double their rate after 3 months and not catch flak for it.
I signed a month to month lease for a 10x15 unit for $139 a month. I didnt realize the rate would fluctuate. I understand reasonable price increases. However, after 3 months they raised my rate to $219. This is a 60% price increase. They stated this is due to recalculation of the current market and availability. If I could give this storage space a minus 10, I would. This is the second time I have entrusted Extra Space storage to keep my belongings safe and the second time I have been robbed of my personal belongings in two different states. The first one in ****** Texas and the second one in *******, *******. It's a real ripoff my unit started at$186/months and after three months it went up to 239 and then $300 in just 7 months so everybody beware
They need to state in their contract that they will increase your monthly fee at least 50% within the first six months to 12 months of your time with them. They are horrible to work with. They have been sued by NY and I'm sure more state's are coming.
Continually increases rent without notice. I rent the smallest unit, which went from $75/month to $210 a month within 2 years.
