I came here misguided in 2017 Mitch my mentor taught me valuable lessons and I fell back into my ways when I came out but never forgot what I was taught. Used to wipe windows on street corners , I’ve purchased my 7th car today 2 years clean & I work for the governor now. You can change if you want to , but this place was the reason I didn’t end up like the rest of my friends fortunately. Thank you gateway, figure I leave a real honest review with no sugar coating.
Staff were knowledgeable and great. Living quarters and gym subpar. The other clients and group meetings were clients led were absolutely toxic. These places should not allow people coming of drugs and streets and jails to lead groups. You had two groups. Those who were mature and serious about recovery and then those who divide and distract with clown behaviors,clicks,racial division and straight out disrespectful behavior. Gateway Foundation changed my life. Dont let these bad reviews deter you from changing your life. The 1 star reviews are losers who never stood a chance anyway. This place will get you clean if you check your baggage at the door.
Gateway Foundation in general is very good. But this location was by far more restrictive than their other locations. My husband was there for 28 days. He was only allowed two phone calls a week. Not allowed visits from loved ones. I believe if the patients were allowed more phone privileges and even visits from loved ones, their treatment would go better. Afterall, they should be allowed more support from their loved ones, not just staff and peers at the treatment center. This place can do so much better.
My experience with gateway foundation lake villa was a demeaning discriminatory and very passively aggressive hostilities treatment By Bernadette The Director of Nursing. Her behavior was brazen careless and without merit. I was asked illegal and bias questions and treatment. Bernadette was ill-prepared and lacked the professionalism ,knowledge, skill set for the current position she holds.
