One review cannot sum up my love for this woman. I researched high and low for a good realtor when we decided to buy a house in Hawaii and she was the only one I reached out to.
I’d been in touch with her for 6 months before we even moved and she was always giving advice- what to do in advance, what areas of Oahu we should start looking into, what “fee simple” means ??
When we finally got to the island we lined up a ton of houses to see. Going to open houses with Cathy was like shopping with a best friend. We had a blast with her. And she was so knowledgeable and thorough during walkthroughs. She pointed things out we would have never thought to even look at and she knew what would be an easy fix and what wouldn’t. She is one tough cookie and I always felt like we were 2 little kids peering out from behind her while she had some tough conversations on our behalf with a few not so friendly realtors.
Despite a few warnings from people who’d had bad experiences with real estate agents, we told Cathy everything in terms of finance. She knew how much we were preapproved for and how much we were actually comfortable spending. There was never a moment where she made us feel pressured to go above that. She didn’t send us homes to look at outside of our budget. There were even a few times I got dollar signs in my eyes and sent her houses at the very tippity top of what we were preapproved for ??She talked me off the ledge, knowing full well that a house outside our budget was not in our best interest.
Cathy was available to talk at every hour of the day. She squeezed in more open houses at the last second if I found another listing I liked. She never asked us to explain why we didn’t like a house, she simply took no for an answer. She also went above and beyond what a normal realtor is expected to do. Like, FULLY above and beyond. She went on an hour-long mission to hunt down a shipment of Omaha Steaks that had been sent to us and delivered to the wrong address. She knocked on a stranger’s door, rescued our steaks, and drove to our new house to put them in the freezer so they’d be there when we got the keys. When I told my dad the story he said “wait, this is your realtor doing all of this?” Yeah dad but it’s not just a realtor, it’s Cathy.
I’m actually sad that our time spent house-hunting is over. Buying our first home in Hawaii was stressful enough, let alone buying in a sellers market. We were usually up against 15-20 other buyers when we made an offer. Now that we’re in our home I’m so grateful that our first few offers fell through because we ended up with the perfect home. But time working with Cathy has come to an end... Apparently we can’t afford to buy another house ???????
Cathy, if you’re reading this, I need you to become a hairstylist or personal trainer or something.... any job that allows me to come see you week after week. Miss you already
