I have been here at Heartwood EC since 2021.When I got here I would have given it 1-2 stars but now that they have a new administration in place the difference is night and day.In the past the food was horrible,some of the staff seemed indifferent to patient needs and there was an overall lack of accountability.However since the new administrator (Mark Weerasinghe) has been here those issues have been resolved.The food is good,the staff seem more engaged and there is accountability and structure.More importantly patients fee... read more

Pretty darn awesome. Called immediately when he began vomiting blood from medications. Handled it superbly. We got to TH in time. Excellent, effective, efficiently trained staff. Love the guys taking care of the husband. I would not only recommend them to anyone, but I would also enjoy staying there when I have my surgery and I am choosing recovery .

My Mom has been doing "rehab" here for the last several weeks (she had a hip replacement). No one likes a "nursing home" but the staff here for the most part is excellent. It is exceptionally clean (which I greatly appreciate). It is straight out of the early 80's with it's teal an pink décor but whatever. My nephew was a patient at Heartwood for over a year. Because he was a medicare/medicaid patient, choices were limited. Heartwood received approximately $17,517 a month for their services because my nephew was completely bed bound. I was my nephew's POA and visited often as well as trying to be an advocate for his care. In the year he was there, he lost over 30 pounds. I would not recommend this facility to anyone who cares about their loved ones. My daughter is a resident there and there's been no discharge planning for her, when you call and ask to speak to a director or manager you're put on hold and then they hang up on you. I've called repeatedly four times in one day and I got hung up on every time they transferred me. Sometimes I can't understand the person who answers the phone. My brother was entrusted in their care and he ended up vomiting up his own blood. He was not given none of his I. V fluids and he is now fighting for his life at the ICU of Saint Joseph and in Tacoma, if you value your family members. If you value anybody that you care about, Do not entrust the care of this place. They're all about the money. And they don't care about the people. This is coming from one family member to another. Heartwood Extended Healthcare on 72nd in Tacoma is sub-par at best. A friend was admitted to this place from the hospital for extended physical therapy care prior to home release so that he could get better nerve and muscle recovery and movement back prior to home release. The staff at this facility didn't even change his clothes the first night when he was admitted.
