Very professional, very thorough review of my symptoms and recommended treatment.
couldn't be more pleased with the outcome of my knee surgery, and choice of surgeon. Dr Jeffrey Akeson's expertise in the orthopedics, and professionalism are second to none in downstate Illinois. He has an amazing staff at the OSF hospital and in the Midwest orthopedics office. I'm 3 weeks post-surgery setting and breaking goals weekly while preparing to return to work. Dr Akeson has done both of my daughter's hip reconstructions and most recently spinal fusion and I cannot say enough about how amazing he is with my daughter's care!
Just completed my one Year review of a total knee replacement with Dr. Akeson and I continue to be impressed with his down to earth friendliness, his commitment to his patients wellbeing, and most importantly, his superb skill as a surgeon. He came highly recommended and he did not disappoint.
Dr Akeson has treated my daughter with OI for 14 yrs. We could not ask for a better doctor. He has always taken the time and listened to our concerns. He even delayed his vacation because my daughter needed surgery. You would be hard pressed to find a more compassionate doctor.
Waited for 3 months to see this doctor about my son's scoliosis. We waited for two hours for the doctor to come in the room. No patient file was ready and his office did not have the x-rays ready for him to look at. He barely examined my son and grabbed a piece of scratch paper to write patient notes on the back. Said he would make an appointment for a brace and to "call back in a week if we hadn't heard back to make sure they were doing there job". Who says that? I never heard back, shocker!
We took my son to see Dr. Akeson for three years for his scoliosis. Each time we were told they would brace or cast him "next time", only to have the next appointment come and no action taken. After three years we asked for a second opinion and were sent to Shriner's in Chicago. The very first visit it was determined that he needed to be put in a brace. We lost out on three years of spine correction! While Dr. Akeson is a very kind person, kind isn't enough when it comes to my child's care.
At the appointments he was very disinterested and a few appointments his physicians assistant came without him. One was my first checkup after my surgery
