RecommendedLove the history of the building and how it impacted Portsmouth. Watching the construction shows the loving care the owners and work force are giving this soon to be again grand building. Hope to visit when it is complete.

I too remember shopping "downtown" with my parents and going to dinner at Jarvis Restaurant, shopped at Grants and Newberry's for everything, bought shoes at Shaine's Shoes (across the street), boy scout uniforms at Sheldon's and school uniforms at Kimball's ( they had an escalator), gowns at Hudson's (elevator), movies at the Civic and the Cinema...long before the Newington Mall (Fox Run)! I wanted to share how disappointed my group was with how your GM handled a situation that should have been very simple. I purchased two tickets and had my own table, while my wife had a separate table with two of her friends. Unfortunately, my brother got sick and couldn’t attend, which left an open seat at my wife’s table. I simply asked if I could forfeit my two tickets and take that open seat instead. The stage, sound ,and lighting are great. I found the event staff kinda pushy, but that tends to be so with larger venues everywhere. Waitstaff was accommodating, though I was there for music, not dinner. It would probably harm their bottom line, but removing all tables and chairs from at least the first 50 feet (if not all) of what should be the dance floor, perhaps raising another section of seating slightly above and behind it, would make this an ideal music venue.
