Love this location for going out to get drinks. The food is probably a three out of five. Honestly, not very good. Great for appetizers and drinks!
Waited too long to be seated even with a reservation.
Brought my younger brother to JOEY Newport for his first time. Server did not ask us about any dietary restrictions, nor did he even carry an iPad to accurately take the order. Ordered the hummus for an appetizer, but didn’t know it contained peas until it came to the table, which my brother is allergic to so he couldn’t eat it. Then, I ordered a classic steak with no bacon on the crispy mash for religious reasons, and of course it came out with bacon although the server assured me that it wouldn’t. Didn’t see our server for 30 min! We didn’t even have one assigned at first. They ended up comping all our first round of drinks because it took 30 min to get our drinks!!! Finally got a server after speaking to the manager.
Our steak was burnt and very chewy l. Horrible. The molten chocolate cake was not the greatest I've had.
The service was disappointing. We were helped by a new waitress who repeatedly mixed up our drink orders, and there were long delays in receiving both our food and drinks. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t meet our expectations
Took 1 hr to seat us with a reservation and checking in on time with the full party. Was super noisy.
We had high hopes for Joey Newport Beach, but unfortunately, our experience fell short. Right off the bat, the three of us were seated at what was clearly a two-person table. It was cramped and uncomfortable—we had barely enough space for our food, drinks, and water glasses. It felt like we were constantly shifting things around just to make room. JOEY is not the same anymore. The food was terrible. The salmon was smelly, indicating who stale it was, the seabass was bitter but we couldn't tell if it was the fish or the sauce that it was drown in! The sauteed mushrooms were tasteless and slippery! The texture just didn't feel right. I asked for some Sriracha sauce to put on the mushrooms.
