My server kept wanting to remove items that I hadn’t finished with yet. I think she thought this was good service.She brought the steak before I’d finished my first course. Doesn’t she know that it takes longer to eat the Szechuen lettuce rolls? I asked for extra vegetables with my steak as I didn’t want the frites. The vegetables are arugula and cherry tomatoes. One thing the lighting is TOO dark slightly brighter would be so amazing!! Hope you will consider this both locations are too dark !! Rideau is slightly better due to outdoor lights on the street
I was really disappointed with my experience at Joey Rideau, the food quality and service were below expectations.
We went to joeys for girls night, we ordered salads and a drink each and the total came out to be >50$ per person, the drinks were odd, they did not live up to our expectations, there are definitely better places in ottawa and byward for a girls night. Overall was a cute spot, but the food could be better
On booking online, and on arrival, it was explained that it was one of the party’s birthday. We thought that there may have been a small gesture to acknowledge this - e.g. a candle, or message with dessert. Unfortunately, nothing materialised - somewhat disappointing, as it was mentioned twice.
We’ve usually had great experiences at Joey’s, but our last visit was disappointing. I ordered my usual medium Steak Frites, but the steak had an odd and unpleasant taste. The staff handled it courteously and suggested I order something else, which I appreciated, but the replacement dish (Mediterranean Bowl) was just okay. My wife’s Lobster Spaghetti also seemed to have prawns instead of visible lobster. Interesting menu, esp the lettuce wrap (brilliant!) but the main joey steak dish arrived cold. Looks like the veg in particular were plated up and then left to wait for the meat. Manager was informed.
Burgers have become really quite small for the same price. Not fair.
First we waiting a long while to get a waiter or waitress. A not a busy evening. Other people before us got seated and served first. We finally had a waiter. We ordered drinks. Very long time to bring the drinks over or the appetizer. We did see lots of socializing between staff. But we still waited for ordering our main meal. We ordered fish tacos.
