8 weeks post breast explant & fat transfer & never happier with chest
In July of this year, Dr. John Burns performed a breast explant and fat transfer on me, and I couldn't be happier with the results and everything to do with the care I received from him and his office. When I first decided I wanted this surgery, I spent a lot of time researching various surgeons. In the process, I discovered that many surgeons are capitalizing on the trend for women to remove their implants, and are even advertising themselves as "explant surgeons." At first, I fell for this and left messages with a few of them. The ones who returned my calls asked for a hefty "consultation fee" of several hundred dollars, indicating that they were specialists on explant surgery. After researching further, it became clear that there is no such thing as an explant specialist. A plastic surgeon is plastic surgeon. Many of these surgeons are heavily marketing themselves as such to prey on women who are suffering from symptoms believed to be due to their explants (like me). Unwilling to settle for just anyone, I continued to research, and soon discovered a podcast interview of a surgeon in Dallas (Dr John Burns) who performs many explants with fat transfer, among other types of plastic surgery. It was listening to that interview that made me pick up the phone and call his office. In the interview, he spoke about his technique with such specificity and without any salesmanship - just the air of a doctor/scientist who truly is interested in performing the surgery with the most finesse and efficiency and utility as possible. He came across as earnest and self-assured and confident (without being arrogant), and his explanation of his surgical technique made so much sense and put me at ease imagining him doing my surgery. Despite my living hundreds of miles away in the Pacific Northwest, I knew I wanted Dr Burns to be my surgeon. When I called his office, not only did they not immediately ask for a hefty consultation fee, but his assistant (who couldn't have been nicer) scheduled me right away for a Zoom call with Dr Burns the next day! I was floored. I already had so much anxiety about possibly having to wait for weeks, and already I was talking to him. He looked at my pictures and said that he felt confident he could get me the result I wanted after removing my implants and transferring fat. Prevous to having implants, I had been a sad little "A" cup, having nursed 4 children. The implants had never made me feel confident, not in the 14 years I had them. They always sat too high on my chest and looked too round and unnatural. I had developed two autoimmune diseases (hypothyroidism and immune thrombocytopenia) since my implant revision four years before, and all I wanted was to have them out of me...but I felt depressed at the idea of returning to my sad little "A" cups. The surgery in July went as well as it possibly could. Dr Burns' nurses were so kind and accommodating, and Dr Burns has the most compassionate bedside manner for a surgeon who is clearly in such high demand. He made me feel like his most important patient that day, even though I know I am one of many. The recovery from the surgery hasn't been bad at all. I am 8 weeks post surgery now, and I can honestly say that I have never been happier with my chest than I am today at 47 (and that includes my teenage years and pre-baby years!). Everything Dr Burns assured me would happen has happened. I was amazed that I could fly home two days post surgery, but I do believe that his efficient and experienced surgical technique is why. I hope never to need surgery again, but if I change my mind down the line and want plastic surgery again, I won't hesitate to travel back to Dallas to see Dr. John Burns. If you are hesitant or scared about this surgery, I would encourage you to seek him out as your surgeon.

Love my progress - 5 days post op and very happy
I breastfed my two girls for 3 and a half years total. I have always been very Petite and small chested. I am 5 days post op and very happy. I started with an A and put in 385 cc. John Burns did amazing!!

If you are a person who is looking for implant removal due to suspected breast-implant sickness, or simply because you no longer want synthetic objects in your body, you can rely on Dr. Burns to safely and carefully implement this type of surgery. I 100% recommend Dr. Burns to anyone looking for a great, knowledgeable plastic surgeon. His facility was extremely clean, his staff was very professional and Dr. Burns has some of the best bedside manner I’ve ever seen(coming from a nurse). He answers any questions you may have and is very good at explaining the full procedure. The communication between his staff and the person driving me back home was excellent.
