Dr. Erik Barnes and his wife, Tina, started the Kenai Veterinary Clinic as a part-time practice in 1963. It was located in his A-frame home on the bluff 20 miles north of Kenai. Dr. Dan Lavach, a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmology, purchased the practice from Dr. Barnes in 1977 and moved it to mile 16.4 on the north Kenai road. I’m so thankful to Kenai Vet Hospital. I was able to get squeezed in as a new patient because I needed a health certificate for my dog in order to cross the border. The staff was beyond helpful, especially the ladies working the front desk. I felt welcomed and cared for. The vet (Curt) was also very helpful, answered my questions and listened to me. It’s a long trip and my Akita is 13 and he helped with some meds to make him comfortable until we can get him to his normal vet back home. The visit was reasonably priced too. ... read more
