I would say it's a great place unless the individual has dementia of any kind. Residents can just walk out any door and get lost. It was a wonderful community but my dad had dementia and with this being his first move away from family it wasn't so good for him. They said he would either need around the clock assistance or would have to move. This was after we asked several times and they "assessed" him regarding his dementia.

Thank you for leaving a review of Lakes at Gainesville Assisted Living.
The staff is good and they love my mom and treat her like their own grandma. A few are better than others but you are always going to have favorites. The food is not good. It's crazy expensive.
Business response:
Thank you for taking the time to leave a five star review. We are grateful for the opportunity to care for your mother.
Once my dad entered hospice care at the Lakes, the level of service was insufficient for his needs. I would not recommend the lakes for hospice care

Numerous occasions found him in room, door closed, no lights, t.v, not even fluids beside him. Room very hot, he would try to take off clothes. Returned to hospital, : uti, dehydration. Got call from head medical, he could not return to morningside. They... read more
Business response:
I am the Executive Director and was sorry to read of your impression of our community. Resident care, safety and happiness is our top priority. We carefully assess each resident's needs prior to move-in as we want residents to call Morningside home for years to come. On occasion, an individual will need a higher level of care. In that event, we partner with the family to find the best placement for their loved one. I would welcome a conversation with you where we can discuss the specifics of your father's situation.
The location felt run down and dowdy. Also, it would have been hard for a person with poor sight to get around the hallways.
Business response:
