I am extremely excited to share my story with you, and I hope others will benefit from this. Over the years during high school, my son Luke was diagnosed with ADD and had a 504 plan and an IEP. He hated school, and never did the homework or studied. Testing showed that he was very smart, even scoring superior in several categories. High school was a constant struggle. Homework was never done, and if it was, it was often not turned in. The ADD meds, the 504 plan and the IEP didn’t really seem to help him much, but he did graduate high school and went on to college. Last year, he started college, and simply found he wasn’t ready. He withdrew and came home. We (his parents) as well as Luke were heartbroken. We said he could try something else. But he insisted that all he wanted to do was graduate from college. These are the turning points in their lives that you really want to get right, and as a parent, you so hope you do. Well, we found out about LearningRX and we decided to meet with them and learn more. I have to say that when we met with Rich, the owner of the LearningRX, we all somehow felt at peace and at home there. We really felt like the program could help him and give him what he needed: the brainpower and the confidence to get through college. (Tests found that his long-term and short-term memory, as well as his processing skills, needed much improvement.) We decided to sign Luke up for the program.
During the first two weeks of LearningRX, we noticed a big change. Some things were completely unexpected. Luke was starting to smile more, and he was chatting with me more than ever. His grandma, aunts and cousins all commented to me that it seemed like something was changing. He was more gregarious than ever! His confidence soared, and you could visibly see it every day. He went to LearningRX three times per week, and he never once complained. On the contrary; he couldn’t wait to go! And, it was an hour drive each way. He adored his teachers – they do an amazing job of finding the right people to teach. His most recent teacher was Julie. (Luke got a job so had to change schedules, so had a couple different teachers.) I cannot say enough good things about her. I can tell you I am 100% confident she genuinely cared about his outcome and put all her effort into helping him succeed.
We got the test results at the end of the program and they were great, but that’s not what really mattered to me. What mattered to me was success at college. He started up at college again just a few weeks ago. Yesterday I found out that he is going to the library every single night to do his homework and study. (Have I mentioned I’ve almost never seen him do homework or study while in high school?) I have seen a transformation in him that I have never seen before, and I cannot thank LearningRX enough for what they did for my son. I will be forever grateful to all the wonderful and caring people at LearningRX.
