It's definitely not the same since it changed ownership. I ordered Thanksgiving Take and Bake. I called specifically to make sure the turkey was a "real turkey". I was assured that it was a half of turkey. It was a loaf and was not edible. It's in the garbage now. We have lived 2 blocks from Tobes (Lighthouse) for over 20 years. Needless to say we have had countless meals there. I am very disappointed.
This place used to be a wonderful place to have a memorable dinner. It has really gone downhill over past 2 years. They really need a dress code here. Last time we dined, they sat us next to a couple who were in pajama pants, t shirts and house shoes! Get out of here! Completely ruined the nite and we won't be back.
Wow, so glad new management is stepping in to take over because this place is a shit show. The location is absolutely beautiful but that's the only positive thing I can say. Way back when it first opened they had the best food in the area, but sadly it has declined...drastically. Went on a Sunday evening after the dinner rush and still waited to be seated. On a Friday evening at 6 PM you run out of the house white wine ? Of course you have another white option at a much higher price. I ordered my meal blackened , it was not . I had to send my potatoes back , they were cold , and we dined with fruit flies the entire evening swarming our food . Am I being too hard ? I eat at the Lighthouse often and this was my first bad experience. The lobster bisque was very watery and broken. I also unfortunately had to send my salmon back because it was raw. I do think this is a rare case because my experience is normally great. Just unfortunate for the amount of money spent.
The dinner was really good, except for my entree. I got the risotto and scallops. They were all swimming in water. The whole plate. So unappetizing. And to make matters worse, I left my expensive sunglasses on the table when we left. Came back just a few minutes later and they were already stolen (or thrown away when clearing). In order to write this review, I am forced to give it one (1) star. We were at Lighthouse Restaurant on 4/18, to celebrate a birthday. Our server, Annette, was great. We sat in the back with the view of the lake. The food was not. It must have been an off day for the kitchen? How? Our reservation was at 5:00. The restaurant opened at 4:00. This is a wonderful restaurant that always seems to fall short on service and presentation. I don't mind paying extra for delicious food and great service, but I always feel disappointed after eating here. Perhaps I keep wishing things will turn around, but I'm not seeing any changes. On my last visit, the medium-rare fillet was delivered cold and well-done. My sides were given to another table, and there was a full 20 minute gap until everyone at the table had their meal. There is no excuse for this.
I recently dined at The Lighthouse , expecting to indulge in traditional Southern cuisine. However, what I encountered was far from the authentic flavors I anticipated. The menu boasted a "northern flare," which left me longing for the comforting familiarity of true Southern dishes. I found myself tasting unfamiliar flavors that failed to capture the essence of the region. Very bland flavors!
