Dear Mr. Whitehead,
Back in 2003 you handled my Social Security Claim after I had been turned down twice by the Administation. You, of course, won my claim and in doing so you changed my life. Since then I have been able to live an independent life and not be a burden on my family.
During the course of the last few years my husband Christopher and I divorced yet we remained close friends. Two years ago we discovered he had Parkinsons Disease as well as ALS. At that time he was living with his brother and being treated at the V.A. Hospital. From the moment we found out his diagnosis I immediately gave him your telephone number and urged him to call you as soon as possible, which he did. Just as in my case, you won him his benefits and so changed his life as well. His disease progressed so swiftly, he soon had to be moved to the New Era Nursing Home. It seemed like a blink of the eye and he was gone. He passed away this past June. I mourn his passing every day but I know he is in a better place and no longer suffering and in pain.
At the urging of my sister I contacted Social Security to apply for Widows benefits. I know now that I should have never done this. At the initial meeting at my local Social Security Office I learned that I would be losing my Medicaid, my no-cost prescription medications, my Food Stamps and probally my low-cost housing as well. I felt like my whole world was crashing down upon me. The very first thing I did was call your office. I spoke with Maria Perez and she calmed me down and probally saved me from having another heart attack. I can not express to you, Mr. Whitehead, how much talking with her has helped me. I don't know where you find such extraordinary employees but she has made such a difference in my life these pass few weeks just as Melanie did back in 2003.
I'm not sure what is going to happen to me now but I do know one thing for sure that when I need guidance and a carring and kind voice know I can reach out to your office and find it there. Please know how much esteem I hold for Maria and how I feel you and your employees have gone above and beyound the call of duty. I remain eternally grateful.
