Good all-round printer/scanner The Brother MFCJ805DWXL Color Ink Jet Printer is one of recent models with up-front cost for ink: You pay more for a printer with either large capacity refillable ink tanks (such as Epson EcoTank and certain Canon Pixma models, such as the G4200) or large replaceable cartridges (such as the Brother). The large cartridges are more convenient to install, but hopefully printers of this type will not require frequent ink replacements, assuming typical usage. Physical setup was thankfully minimal (I... read more
Smaller than Other Brother Office Printers but Nearly as Capable The Brother MFCJ805DWXL Color Ink Jet Printer is the third Brother printer to see use in my home office/studio. I have one that is a number of years old and doesn’t see much use anymore. I also acquired the Brother MFC-J6545DW last year. That that has been the primary office printer until the MFCJ805DWXL arrived. The Brother MFC-J6545DW is a capable multifunction office printer. Except for photo printing (I use a Canon TS8220 for photo printing,) the Brother MF... read more
Excellent printing with some connectivity issues. I've tested this printer for a couple days now. I've went through all the various functions. Here are my impressions. The printing was consistent, tight and vivid, no bleeding. The text was shaped properly. Photos were very finely detailed. The single-pass duplexing automatic document feeder works phenomenal. I was skeptical because this is an entry level all in one copier. It functioned perfect in all of my tests. Brothers ultra-high-volume ink cartridges, which offload into... read more
Terrible Quality My biggest issue with this printer is the quality. I have to clean the print heads and nozzles every few days otherwise any prints come out terrible and unreadable. I was shocked at the great reviews of this printer because it has been nothing but a pain for me personally. I now need to research and get a new one printer because this one is almost unusable sadly. Wont be buying this brand ever again.
stopped printing documents I liked the printer until it stopped printing documents. Seems to be stuck in fax mode. The menu is not user friendly, but the print quality was good. Not spending money on cartridges was one of the main reasons i purchased it, and I was very satisfied with the machine as a whole. Now, it will copy but not print a document from the computer. "Support" is non-existent. I would not buy it again.
Unreliable Text almost never comes out clearly. It’s always missing a row of ink. Every time I use the printer, I have to clean and align the heads which only seems to (barely) work for the first page. I wish I could return this printer. I’ll never buy from Brother again.
Not teacher friendly. Cardstock printing is an absolute babysitting process. One sheet at a time, in the back, ease it in slow and perfectly straight, then push it in further after the click. Then read the prompts on the screen and answer questions. Don't you walk away... Here comes the error message. Take the paper out and try again for the 5th time. Since you can only make one copy at a time better pull up a chair because you'll be there all day. But wait there's more!!! Here comes the copy with half of the original image.... read more
No software to control printer. Idrive software will not download. This printer is not provider with machine ready interface with IE Office 365. Trying to download the Idrive software is a time consuming failure. If all you want to do is print 9 x 11 paper, this is an expensive piece of junk.
DO NOT BUY I have used, bought and installed Brother products for years at both my home and the LAN at work. This unit has software issues and the support for this product is the worst nightmare you can imagine. If you want to raise your blood pressure and waste a lot of your time this would be the product for you.
