The process was not smooth. We were asked to provide documentation in piece meal form. When we thought we were moving forward, we were thrown another request that slowed down the process, causing a good deal of uncertainty and stress that was unnecessary. At closing I questioned a piece document I was signing that outlined bills that were being paid off by the mortgage company. After dripping out daily various documents he needed, instead of asking us for everything at once, he prolonged the whole application experience to weeks - when we could have given him everything at once. Then, he finally told us we are pre-approved for 400k and he just needs underwriters ok. Then came back and said, no, I'm wrong, we need this and that. there are a lot of documents that need to be shared. Ideally, they would all be identified up-front and then grabbed once rather than multiple times uploading different documents. I also didn't like that my mortgage servicing company charged for the pay-off statement to be expedited. I could have provided this document without the cost.
