For the most part, I really like my apartment. It's a good size and good location, nice layout, etc. They are timely with maintenance. However, MSC should not show apartments 9 months before someone's rent is up. It doesn't seem realistic to me or fair to assume everyone will know their employment situation for the next year 9 months before their lease is up. Re: Cambridge Square - This place seemed great, at first. They make you renew your lease 8 months in advance, and on MULTIPLE occasions the property manager has entered our home with less than a couple hours notice. If you move here, prepare to wake up at 6am every weekday, due to the loud and unnecessary "grounds maintanace." The last straw for me is when I awoke in the morning to find a man on a ladder at my window- the complex gave us NO notice that a painting crew would be over in this day. Although the location for its price is unbeatable on Brandon, there is a clear lack of transparency and inability to fulfill promises. Since the beginning of this school year, there were rumors of re-developing Brandon Ave that, to this day, have never been confirmed nor denied by management. The only hint that it is happening is the inability to resign at 600 or 500. I live on Brandon Avenue and this is one of the worst apartments I have lived at in Charlottesville. The heat in my apartment seldom works (it often is off when the weather is cold and blasting heat when the weather is warm) and I have had hot water issues in my shower since I moved in that MSC has never addressed. I even called the office to ask about the heating issue and the only response I got was that my heat "should work" and when I put in a maintenance request nothing happened. Moved my son in today and the apartment condition is deplorable. The laundry room which we are paying extra for each month is leaking and the washer is small and hard to reach. Outlets don't work although this probes was previously reported to management. Front door is nasty and needs paint, trash all over the property. The list goes on... Management is impossible to reach. If you are thinking of renting here, think again.
