My husband was there for less than 24 hours. What a horrible experience. We were not allowed to walk with him to his room. I expected we would have to gown up to do that, but no. He was whisked away.We were told that his belongings needed to be cateloged and that he would get them back the next day or so. He got no meds during that whole time. I did not enjoy working here as a CNA. During my time here a nurse cursed at me and treated me badly. It hurt my mental health deeply and I tried to ask for a sick day. Management terminated me for it. In my opinion, this is not a good place to work as a CNA as I felt like it also had a mean-girls culture here. Moreover, CNAs are often overworked and encouraged to take shifts back-to-back (up to 16 hours). I was surprised a sick day wasn't allowed considering how stressful this job was. My mom was here for just one day, and had a horrible experience with the staff and level of care and service here. She was in an extreme amount of pain through the night. She was spasming because it hurts so bad, and no one came to assist her. They had her sitting up in a wheelchair to eat breakfast but had not changed her depends from the night before. Not recommended!!! My opinions listed here.The therapists themselves were great. All of them I dealt with. I noticed a violation of (my understanding) state law on being checked in (with witness). Meds not always given on time. Apparently nursing orders that were NOT done were written down as having been done. I was NOT released in a timely manner after therapy was completed. If you have gluten intolerance or other food restrictions to your diet, expect to have very little to eat here. From what I have heard, this is not due to a lack of knowledge or resources, but because the person in charge of the kitchen has decided that food allergies and intolerances do not exist. Plenty of other medical facilities can and do accommodate food restrictions. North Cascades should get it together and be willing to do the same.

Having experience in nursing and also been a business owner. I had the unfortunate experience of having to choose a rehabilitation facility for my mother. The ratio of patient care to nursing staff is not adequate and unfortunately your loved ones are not treated with dignity and if you question their care, things get worse with them. I would NEVER use this facility and have also written the state regarding my concerns and care that I observed giving.
