7 weeks ago, we brought my 8 years old Beagle to have him check for a lump on his rear. Since he was not neutered, they told us that that can be common on non neutered dogs and just to monitor him and bring him back if it grows bigger. Everything was normal, good appetite, good energy, being himself, but 3 days ago he wasn’t happy, stopped eating and started vomiting and having diarrhea, the next day after the symptoms, we brought him to be seen just to find out that he has spleen cancer and he is too late to have surgery as... read more

Charged me 800 for tests on my dying cat. Because they wouldn’t let me put him down. He had a huge tumor in his throat. Then of course charged for his put down. Now I made appointments for my 2 6 month kittens and they say I don’t have an appointment. That they double booked the noon appointment. I am sitting here until they see me. I will not be back. I need my kittens ears looked at or I would have left. Staff are not nice and are liars.

Business response:

This animal clinic is appalling with their treatment and care for animals. I would never recommend this place due to the staff being incompetent, inadequate, and substandard in their care and treatment of pets and their owners.

My daughter took her cat in for a routine check-up today, April 2nd. After x-rays, the vet informs her that her cat has heart disease and cancer. The vet says she has to euthanize the cat as soon as possible because she(the vet) has to leave for the day. My daughter calls her husband who works 25 minutes away from Torrington. She also calls me and I live 30 minutes from Torrington. We all wanted to spend time with the cat and say our good-byes. By the time I get to Torrington, my daughter is sitting alone in her car crying. ... read more

Business response:

Jennifer, We understand your disappointment in not being able to be present as a support for your daughter. Our Doctor and staff did explain to her that this was something she could schedule for another day when she could have family with her. We gave several alternative options and your daughter felt it was best to not allow her pet to suffer any longer. You are correct that she was scheduled for a routine wellness visit, however not having been able to predict our patient would come to the appointment struggling to breath... read more

you guys are disgusting! I'm so glad I switched vets, Dr Ogrady was as the best and you have ruined it. a client goes in today for help with her poor cat, you want to do blood work, you take the blood and she didn't have enough ($300) so she tried to pay 85, and you refused to work with her. so you throw out the blood and tell her to come back when she has enough money! what happened to the days when the drs actually cared about the animals and not just about money! Now I know why so many people left that office when ... read more

Business response:

Hi Tara, we don't have you in our system as a client and it sounds like you are speaking on someone elses behalf. However, today is a day reserved for surgical appointments. All sick appointments are given an estimate and we do our best to work within your budget, however we do not offer payments plans through the hospital. We accept Care Credit and Scratchpay, which would have been options offered during the appointment. If your friend has any further concerns, they should contact us at the hospital directly.

My appointment was for 9:30 didn't take me in until 10:30 no one came to say it was going to be a while I have been going there for years , but these new vets don't seem to care about the parent's of there four legged children. I also think there prices are a little to high. The vet tech has a attitude of slamming the door. This is not good customer relations

Business response:

I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your visit with us today. Unfortunately, during the time your appointment was scheduled, we had numerous sick patients arrive. Because we make sure that each patient receives the individual time and care that they need, some appointments with sick or injured patients require more time than others. We do try to keep our clients updated if the appointments are running longer than expected, (and provide some simple comforts in case they do run long) but it seems that we could have done ... read more

Do not go to this Vet if you care about your pets. They do not warrant even half a star. I went to them for almost 17 years, mostly when O'Grady was there and they were awesome. Once he retired, it went downhill. Ridiculous extra charges, rude Vet (actually called my dog mangy to my face), and would not even see her for an emergency even though I called first thing in the morning. She almost died because of them. After they would not see her, I had had enough and decided to switch Vets but forgot to fill a prescription o... read more

Business response:

I would like to clarify this situation and offer some assistance. To begin, Dr. O'Grady owned North Torrington for decades and had not updated his pricing or protocols in a very long time. Unfortunately, just like everything else in life, medical supplies and cost of doing business increases yearly. These increases are beyond our control. So while we make a conscious effort to minimize the effect is has on our clients, while working toward providing the highest level of care possible. ... read more
