Polaris G52 Back-up Valve Assembly. This is a factory original Polaris replacement back up valve. It has a timer mechanism inside that diverts water out of a jet every 5-10 minutes. This jet acts as a back up, pulling the cleaner out from the pool floor or wall. There is an arrow on one side of the hose barb that should face towards the cleaner. Replacement kit was as expected. It perfectly replaced the ... Replacement kit was as expected. It perfectly replaced the existing backup valve. My only complaint is that the original part lasted only 1 year before developing a circumferential crack. After reading several online reviews, I see that this is typical.

didn't last long the backup valve is a great tool for the Polaris pool cleaner, however the one I purchased in June 2015 has disintegrated on the top half in less than 2 years. The solid top half has split about 90% around causing it to separate from the lower half. This one was a replacement for the original backup valve that came with the Polaris unit. It split in the same place but that was after 10+ years of operation. Disappointed in the working life of this product.
