Polaris G52 Back-up Valve Assembly. This is a factory original Polaris replacement back up valve. It has a timer mechanism inside that diverts water out of a jet every 5-10 minutes. This jet acts as a back up, pulling the cleaner out from the pool floor or wall. There is an arrow on one side of the hose barb that should face towards the cleaner. Genuine parts at a fraction of the cost at local pool stores What a difference a new back up valve makes. Our sweeper, we call him Scooter, was slowing down and getting hung up on his own line. I had adjusted just about everything else when I read the back up valve can fill with water after several years. Of course that extra weight would throw off Scooter's ability to maneuver. I bought this replacement and it's working better than ever. The pool stores in town charged double and triple for this part.
