This place used to be really great but not anymore. They lured us in with a rent price that was reasonable, and every month I saw fees that were added. They have pet fees, utility fees, insurance fees, insurance premiums, and even fees to pay the rent. It got to the point where we were paying over $100 a month in just fees (not to mention the hefty fees we had to pay just to have the pets initially). So we thought we were going to be paying $900 in rent, by the time we moved out 3 years later it was going to be over $1,500 ... read more

Hi Erica, We're sorry to see your review. I'd like to address a few of your concerns: Unfortunately, the condition of the apartment was poor when you moved out. There were pet urine stains on the carpet, and crayon and marker on the walls - requiring additional paint to cover. All charges are photographed and available for you to review. Our records show that your total rent, including fees, was $1,262 - far less than $1,500. Lastly, we're sorry we couldn't let you out of your lease early, but we wish you the best with your ... read more
1) I am not one to complain, I understand apartment living. But the fact that when I did have some complaints nothing was ever done about them. But people were allowed to complain on us and we always got letters about our TV or animals 2) the fact we were given an option to get rid of our dog or leave because one person said he was a pit bull even after having paper work that said he was a Great Dane mix still have to leave (which I don’t mind I couldn’t stand living here any longer) 3) the fact the the little old lady in... read more
Salem Woods could improve by significantly lowering their cost of rent. It could be worse, but, it also could be better. They only accepted money orders or checks and they increased my rent about $60.00 when I extended my lease. They do keep up with their landscape and repairs, but, those are about the only good things I have to say about them. They're simply too expensive. I moved into a different apartment complex only after living there for one year and I'm paying significantly cheaper rent for more space. They also ban s... read more
Horrible place to live. Loud neighbors and management is no help. Vehicles with flat tires taking the best parking spots. Patios used as storage of junk for family and visitors to see even though it's against rules. Mystery van picks up transient halfway house residents. I didn't feel my family was safe there. Don't pay cleaning fee because they will keep partial deposit for fees even though the apartment is clean. Breezeway filthy and moldy. It was never cleaned our whole time there. We had to clean our own breezeway area t... read more
Business response:
Daniel, We're sorry to hear you didn't have the best experience. I hope we can address some of your concerns in this response. Breezeways are cleaned daily and mopped every week. We never received a request from anyone in your building for additional cleaning, but are always happy to accommodate those requests. Fortunately, we do offer an option for residents to break their lease agreement. Requirements for breaking a lease are clearly stated in the paperwork signed at move-in. Part of your security deposit wasn't returned b... read more
If you have noisy neighbors that keep you up all night from their constant yelling don't expect anything to be done about it. We properly went through the channels of writing up 3 different complaints. We were told that they couldn't actually tell the offenders that they were too loud at 2 am. They could only inform the whole building. At times I literally had thoughts of sleeping in my car because the neighbors would talk at all hours of the night very loudly. We eventually had to pay 1,500 dollars to get out of our lease f... read more

Kelly, We're very sorry to hear about your negative experience. Our goal is to always keep our residents happy and we missed the mark for your lease. We're looking into each of the issues and hope to use your feedback to improve our service in the future. Thank you!
Caveat emptor I’m glad the majority of residents are having great experiences. This is, in large part, why we chose this complex. I’m wanting to give my personal experience so that anyone considering Salem Wood has a clearer picture than I did. My personal opinions/experiences after 2 months: Pros: -Potentially very quiet and peaceful -Almost all neighbors friendly and cordial -1 of 3 maintenance employees cordial and efficient -nice, spacious floor plan -included washer/dryer unit - this is a life saver! -Salem schools -ver... read more
Business response:
Bridget, Our number one goal is to always keep our residents happy. We have sent a written notice to your neighbor and spoken with them directly about the noise issues you have reported. Salem Wood is a professionally managed property with award winning customer service. However, there are times when we are not able to verify certain complaints if they occur after business hours or on weekends. As such, we encourage our residents to reach out to the Salem Police Department with any complaint, including but not limited to noi... read more
