We visited last Friday and left feeling sad for a lot of the animals. I'll start by saying that the exhibits for the flamingos, parrots and the snakes were excellent and our family really enjoyed them. On the down side we started by feeding some small alligators and got upset as we watched one of the alligators attempting to eat the only turtle that was in there w/them (maybe there is a reason that turtle isn't with the other turtles but wasn't fun to watch that). This place was disappointing. We vacationed in Sarasota with our son and read reviews about how the Sarasota Jungle was a "must see". Every enclosure was so poorly done for every animal. There was minimal branches/foliage or shelter in the actual enclosures for many animals. When we visited a few weeks ago, it was in the 90's. When we were at the American Alligators enclosure there was no water in the pool for it. The smaller alligators were just sitting in a shallow pool with no foliage and barely any shelter. This place made me very sad. The animals, usually more than a dozen, are crammed into tiny enclosures with little to no shade. It's no life for them.
serious attitude problem with ticket taker lady. This is a place to avoid.
