I love it here, I was a patient on the 7th floor SCI unit, with a T4 injury paralyzed from the waist down. I came in pretty much in a vegetable state and 3 months later left a totally different person. I still go to outpatient treatment there and the therapist has gotten me from using a wheelchair to KAFO braces and a walker. The doctors and therapist are amazing they go over and beyond to ensure the patients have nothing but the best treatment. 6 years ago I suffered a stroke 9 days after I retired. When I arrived at RIC I could not walk, use my right arm or speak clearly. 5 weeks later, I walked out the front door. Not well, but I walked, spoke clearly, and most importantly, the RIC team gave me the tools and road map to follow in returning to a good quality of life. Whether they were nursing, physicians, therapists or counsels, they all made me feel that I was important and I could achieve the best improvement I was capable of.
