My Nuclear Radiology ( Vanessa (?)) was so warm and friendly, both on the phone before hand and when I arrived, plus during the entire procedure! The equipment was quiet and not threatening. The personal at SimonMed were friendly and respectful. However, the equipment was another matter. I was there to get a PET scan to send to Moffitt Cancer Center to stage my cancer and provide data for treatment. After the radioactive IV and an hour wait the initial scan was terminated early due to the PET part not functioning. I was told that it would take about 30 minutes to reboot the machine to complete the scan. After a half hour or so I was told it was working and the scan could now be done. They did not have the proper ear protection for an MRI. They did not have a separate bathroom for patients …patients were expected to use the same bathroom that the public uses. The place was filthy. It needed to be cleaned all the cabinets had human hair and filth in them. They did not have a person designated or trained to use an IV port ….when an individual has bad veins. Literally waited the day before my PET scan to tell me it would cost me almost $3000 and they don’t do payment plans. Called my insurance to find out they won’t use or tell them contracted price. What I’m understanding from insurance that may not be what I have to pay and insurance would reimburse anyway but because they waited until the day before I wasn’t prepared for that. Absolutely the WORST imaging place I ever been to. Do everything their way . Fill out paperwork online , then get there and repeat it again. Show up early and they take me in later than appt. time . And NO they didn’t have anyone else in there . I was only patient in there . Then takes 3 pokes for IV and no I don’t have vein issues. Get poked all the time and all get it first time around.
