As we are fully walk-in for all services including some routine surgeries, we are always prepared to deal with medical and surgical emergencies as well as routine care. Emergencies are handled efficiently and at no additional fee. This includes cases seen during our evening and weekend hours. I haven't been here in years, but we just got a new puppy and I already knew where I would be taking him. I had dogs and cats and this is where they were going. Glad they are still doing great.
I was broke, desperate for a diagnosis for my sickly cat, and didn't want to return to the emergency vet place where I had taken her several years prior (terrible experience). St. Paul was open till 9 p.m., so I brought her over after work, no appointment. Within 5 minutes, a sweet and caring doctor saw us and listened carefully to what I had to say, and nodded with understanding when I explained my financial situation. This place is amazing! I was first introduced to St. Paul vet clinic when I lived in Milwaukee a decade ago. When I moved to Chicago, I tried some of our local vets and found that they are either a) excellent but charge and arm and a leg for the most routine things, while recommending EVERYTHING they can think of in addition, making health care just about impossible in terms of affordability, or b) are affordable but so dirty I wouldn't even consider a nail trim there. We came to St. Paul Vet Clinic after our cat started losing some fur on his back. Being strapped for cash, we decided to try a place that is known for being more affordable than other vets. I am so glad we did, and I'll definitely take my pets here in the future. They are strictly walk-in only, so I was expecting a huge wait.
