From the Netflix docuseries, Taco Chronicles, and Michelin Star fame at the original location, Tacos El Franc finally arrives in downtown San Diego and are you in for a treat! The location, perfect, right on Fifth Avenue in the heart of the Gaslamp. The staff, amazing, very friendly and have great recommendations. Everyone was very nice and thanked us for coming. It was like being at a friend or family members place. The food, oh the food! Loved loved loved the asada tacos, so classic and so perfect. We had three and devo... read more

CONGRATULATIONS to TACOS EL FRANC My family and I went to the Grand Opening at downtown. They never disappoint, always keep their traditional flavor, which is why they are the number one tacos in TJ and Cali. My mother doesn't speak English but was delighted with Tony personality definitely made his day. Definitely everyone should come try their unique flavor the traditional Tijuana style tacos Welcome to downtown, and I wish you all the success you deserve. 1000/1000

I was really excited to try Tacos El Franc after finding out it was on the Guide Michelin, but unfortunately I left pretty disappointed. The habanero salsa was good. It was easily the standout item. The carne asada also had a nice smoky flavor with a hint of lime that I enjoyed. Beyond that, though, the experience fell short. The tortillas were one of the biggest disappointments. Even though they were doubled up, they kept falling apart, and they had an odd smell that was hard to ignore. The al pastor was also underwhelming... read more
Business response:
Hola. You’ve been eating “Al pastor” not adobada, we serve adobada. If you want pineapple with your adobada tacos you have to request it. And it’s put in your taco. Adobada is not supposed to taste like pineapple.
Don't bother stopping here might as well go to the original tacos el franc in Tijuana, the staff here don't pay attention to ppls orders, been here twice and both times my order was messed up. Food itself is good but not Tijuana good.
100% I don't recommend this place. Very dry meat and no flavor. I'll never be back. Service was good but I was here for the whole experience I wanted good food. Wasted my money :( it's the worst Mexican food that I've had in my life.
I stopped by Tacos El Franc for dinner tonight hoping to experience the amazing tacos I've had on my trips to Tijuana, and I was completely disappointed. The tacos in SD do not taste the same as TJ. Period. Tacos are okay, nothing out of the normal. The agua de horchata also tasted like the ones you find at any other taco shop, full of sugar. I never thought I would say this, but tacos El Gordo in Gaslamp are actually better than Franks in SD and you get more bang for your money. Don't think I will be going back to Frank's i... read more
Dont come here. 1 small "quesadilla" done with a regular tortilla is over $12.00 and its OVER PEICED. It is honestly NOT WORTH it. Seriously. What are the owners thinking. Maybe if they worried less on how the restaurant looks and more on quality. Typical over priced spot.
Business response:
Like always. Small quesadilla is not 12.00. If you’re referring to a quesataco it’s 6.00. Thank you.
pretty decent tacos if you don't mind them messing up your order. nothing better than simply asking for no guac and then getting home and they were to dumb to comprehend not putting guac on every taco you bought. love spending $45 on tacos to not eat them. don't come here.
