The mix of retro and modern was so well done at all levels. Pleasantly surprised at how you were still able to hold a conversation and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, while having an elevated listening experience. Huge kudos to the sound design, the physical design and the food execution. It all works together so well. Such a welcoming staff and atmosphere. Will be back for sure.

Atmosphere is amazingly beautiful! Staff is outstanding, so attentive and kind! ! House salad, lobster bisque and red snapper, so creative and delicious! Food is outstanding….Everything about The Pretender is top notch!! So unique for Indiana, like being in the coolest place in a big city with the most incredible atmosphere and delicious food!!!!

No detail was spared or overlooked. The deviled eggs were the best I’ve ever had. Don’t make a mistake and not order them. Burger was perfect. Homemade ketchup is exactly what you think - fresh & better. Of course acoustics were ridiculous. 10/10

The vibe is undeniable, incredible design, organic retro sound, delish food, and wide selection of gorgeous-yummy cocktails. The short rib was something I’ve never experienced, wow. And the cheese fondue appetizer an experience! I also enjoyed THE PEOPLE who greeted us, prepared our table and served us with such authenticity, positivity and attention to detail. Not many perfect experiences I have had from a dining perspective, but this is my new local benchmark. The Khraughbin and Tame Impala sounded perfect where we sat. The sound design is something that may not get noticed right away, but it was perfectly balanced throughout the space, not overbearing and a perfect accent to the decor.
