My Experience at The Refuge I would strongly caution anyone considering The Refuge. I went in willing to do the work and followed all the rules, but what I experienced was manipulative, dismissive, and in my opinion unsafe. • Broken promises. I was told Friday that I would be transferred to the trauma side as soon as a cabin was available. Hell on earth, I was there 4 days and the police were called by clients 2 times because clients were not allowed to leave even though the entered the facility voluntarily THE REFUGE should be shut down before something tragic occurs!!!
