A meal of a lifetime!! The mushroom pizza as a starter was beyond excellent, vegetarian "veal" was so delicious and the lemon cello cake will be in our dreams. Jamal was our server and we couldn't recommend more highly - best service we have ever had at a restaurant from NYC to LA. Will make a trip back to New York for this restaurant alone!
A friend had recommended this restaurant, across the street from Carnegie Hall, for a couple of years before we finally got around to trying it. Wow!!!! We were greeted like old friends, and before we left we'd been served delicious bread (I think there were several kinds--all yummy), a complimentary after-dinner alcoholic chaser (lemon something--I forget) and a fresh-from-the-oven cookie. Our server was very nice. The host stopped by the table and chatted with us. The tables are tightly packed (it's NYC, after all), but we... read more
when in the city we always done here, for years lots of stories and family history here. Love this place!
This place has been there a long time, and is a reliable, old standby. And they have one of our favorite wines, The Prisoner, which made the evening that much more enjoyable. Of course, they have more expensive offerings, too. We also enjoyed sister restaurant, 45 Bond.
Normally in November the weather would preclude dining outside. The evening was mild, the service was great, and I enjoyed a couple of hours before the concert across the street at Carnegie Hall.
We always try to have dinner here when in New York. It's consistently good and centrally located in mid-town. Make sure you book a reservation as it's usually crowded.
We chose this restaurant because of its proximity to Carnegie Hall. I wasn't expecting anything great. Well - the food was exceptionally delicious. I had the scallop Risotto and an order of spinach on the side. it was amazing. The best part was gluten free canal's for dessert. i haven't had a cannoli in more than 10 years. Well, of course I was in heaven! Our waiter Joe - who happened to look a lot like Joe Pesci -was wonderful attentive and charming. I would go back without tix to a show at Carnegie Hall and will!
This restaurant is a well established family run establishment which is evident and the warm welcome on arrival was appreciated. Food, service, atmosphere all amazing. Lovely extras along the way such as complimentary tray baked cookies, liquor and homemade chocolate. Loved it and would definitely return
Ate there prior to NYC Marathon and have never had so much fun at a restaurant....the people there have a great time serving and it was a pleasure to be there. Food was great. We actually cancelled our reservation for the following night at another restaurant and returned. We'll see them on our next trip.
