Our family frequents 54th Street, but we were disappointed at our recent visit to the one on Englewood. They have updated their menu & removed some of our favorite items, & decreased some of the portion sizes, while retaining or raising prices. The Fish Called Wanda & the tenderloin are no more, & the taco platter now only has 2 tacos instead of 3. I get that prices have to go up sometimes, but I'd rather pay a little more to keep the experience the same. We will be exploring other options in the future.

I liked everything about my meal other than the country fried steak. I didn't know what was wrong at the time, but now I realize that it wasn't made with cube steak. Instead, they used a slick, smooth piece of meat that the breading didn't cling to. It came out tough and with an off-putting flavor and texture. I really hope that this was a mistake and that they normally use the right ingredients. I'd like to try it again sometime, because I normally enjoy the fare.

Ask for medium well on the Steak and they gave me medium rare .

South and service is great. Sometimes the fries come out cold. But the main course is always hot and good. My only complaint about the place. They can’t make up their mind on menu items. Worst service we’ve ever had just now. Had to ask for our server 15 minutes after they had picked up our chips and said food would he right out. She finally came, to take the next tables order. I had to flag her down to ask about the food. Said they were behind and it would be out. Left with all of our waters still empty. Asked someone else to send a manager. Different person brings food. I have been going to this particular 54 for about 15 years. Never has the service or food been soooo awful. We waited 40 min for our food while tables that came in after us got theirs. We asked where our food was and we got the standard "the kitchen is so busy". Meanwhile everyone else got their food. Finally it arrived...mine was luke warm, soggy fries and nothing but fat for the Au jus for my French dip. My husband's meal was blah. Worst meal I've ever had from 54. $4 is all they comped us.

We got seated, after a 20 minute wait. If we hadn't gotten the attention of a waiter after sitting at the table for 15+ minutes who knows when we would have gotten acknowledged and drinks. We never even got offered any water, or silverware at this point. Now I'll preface this next part first, our waiter(that we flagged down) was very nice and did a good job.
