Setup was a snap, I set mine up on my wireless network, if you follow the wizard and the quick start instructions, You will be up and running in no time. Boot time for the scanner is about 10 seconds The on-scanner screen is very bright and easy to read. The on-board screen is very user friendly. If you have repeated uses you can set up shortcuts to make your job faster. After setting up the scanner I tried to scanned in 25 4 by 6 photos. I set my default for simplex and 600 dpi and hit start, and the photos immediately star... read more
I was happy to receive and test out this new scanner from Brother. For the past four years I have been using a sheet-fed scanner from Fujitsu and I have been very happy with it. But as time goes on, I wonder how much longer it will be supported through the annual “upgrades” from Apple. So that is my baseline for comparison. Fujitsu makes a comparable scanner and hopefully soon I’ll have the opportunity to test it as well. Setup This can vary depending on your intended usage. The setup is different (if only slightly) whether ... read more
Brother ADS-2700W Scanner. I have found this scanner to be easy to setup and easy to use. The software has almost no footprint on the computer startup and does not appear to run until requested. It scans double sided in 1 pass. It scans very fast, there is a small delay while it’s contacting the computer over Wi-FI but once it establishes the connection the scan is completed in about 1 to 2 seconds. On the scanners default setting you will get a 300 dpi color scan, saved as a PDF to your computer. The file size will be about... read more
The unit is supposed to be used as either wired or wireless. I have most of my devices set up on wireless, and this should be no exception. Out of the box, the unit seemed fairly intuitive. Power on, click the Wireless icon on the screen, set up the network connection. Then I went to Brother’s site to download the software. So far, everything is simple. I try to launch the software, called “Web Based Management”. It opens my browser window and tells me the site it is trying to find cannot be found. The instructions enclosed ... read more
This brother wireless high speed scanner was easy to set up: I did not have to refer to the manual at all to get it started scanning. I was able, using the touchscreen, to connect it to Wi-fi, then connect (from a PC) to the web interface to configure the SMTP settings and set up the address book for e-mail. E-mail was one of the two configurations chosen for my stand-alone scanner use because in a laptop/tablet/phone environment it's difficult to hard-wire a scanner to a single PC. The other configuration was to a network a... read more
Failure to Operate and to Honor Warranty I used the scanner 3 months before packing it in original packaging for a move. The item was in storage with the movers for 10 months. I then used the scanner for 1 month after the move before it failed to stay powered up. Brother refused to provide warranty replacement service because I was 4 months beyond the 1 year warranty, even though I could document it had been in storage for 10 months. I cannot afford to pay Brother $370 for an item which lasts 4.5 months. My previous Snap Sca... read more

Do NOT buy the Brother ADS-2700W if you are working on macOS Big Sur and would like to have a wireless connection to the scanner. Doesn't work and won't work in future (stated by the Brother's tech support). For the Best Buy it has not been a reason to accept my return (refund, store credit) because it was requested after the standard return policy deadline (15 days after a purchase), I am very disappointed that Best Buy customer service wouldn't like to consider an exception. (I talked to a supervisor) I wouldn't call this ... read more

Brother makes a much better product than rival Epson. We have several Epson's deployed and they have refused to update their driver software to support Windows 10. Brother has much better support and a much better product.
I give this scanner only 2 stars, because it really is not computer independent. I purchased this scanner because of the lcd and the fact that I thought I could use it independent of my computer. However, quickly I realized that it requires my computer to work it's magic. If you are accustom to using your computer with your scanner, then this scanner is very well made. But if you are looking for a scanner that is independent of your computer, then keep looking. I am going to try the Raven Pro, which advertises the fact that ... read more
