The food was very good, but the service was disappointing. Our server attempted to give one person in our party his drink by making a long stretch across the table, rather than walking around to make the transfer easier, and the result was that part of the drink was spilled. Also, one person asked for his salad to be brought out when others were served their appetizers, but the server waited until later to bring it out. We have been going to Alexander's for years and will probably continue. I made our reservation on Open Table and marked special occasion and wrote in "wife's birthday". There was never any recognition of the Birthday. I was extremely disappointed. I was going to talk to the Host when I left but they weren't at the entrance. The food was very good and the service was ok. I was just disappointed with Open Table and Alexander's for not making this a "special occasion ".
