My dog is a pure bred breed with a pedigree. I didn’t need to test his DNA in order to find that out. But having tested my own DNA with Ancestry years ago, and learning a lot of interesting things about my own characteristics and origins, I thought that testing my dog’s DNA would be interesting and worthwhile. It was indeed. Simba’s DNA results indicated that he is 95% Chow Chow. I’m neither surprised nor disappointed that it isn’t 100%. It’s actually pretty cool to find out that he is 5% Eurasier. I was a little disappointed. I was hoping to find out dietary issues. Such as, being prone to having bladder stones, etc. Pretty much everything it it found I already knew.
It was great - well informed all times - would love to know which parent was which breed - is that possible - ie as in the human one - parent 1 and parent 2!! A fun experience.
I purposely did not add a picture of my dog to see if it would come back correctly. I purchased a full breed dachshund 6 years ago. I have always believed he was mixed with Chihuahua. To my surprise - he is 100% dachshund. I definitely recommend this service. They communicate throughout the process so you know what is going on.
Two weeks until results from the day received! A little surprised by an additional sweet breed we weren't told about, but also void of a couple others. Also, surprised the main breed was more than 50%.
