Service seems to have declined a bit over last 12 months, not as attentive or on top of things as they use to be. Food is still excellent, one of best in the city.
To whom it may concern: Last Wednesday, I treated a friend to a birthday dinner at Bacchus restaurant. I chose that location for its sterling reputation for food, service, and ambiance. Unfortunately, Bacchus fell far short of being a great restaurant during our visit. The problems began immediately after being seated. Don't expect large portions, but the filet was pretty good. The staff did act rushed.
We had looked forward to this as a special treat in our visit to Milwaukee. The Maitre de was very dismissive when seating us but our waiters were very nice. Unfortunately, the service was less than we expected - had to ask for bread we noticed others were served immediately, waiter came back to table very intermittently and never asked how our food was, drink service was slow, we were not asked about coffee with dessert. We spent a great deal of money on very small portions and will not return to this restaurant.
The food was outstanding as always and the service was great until we finished our dinner. It took 30 min for someone to return to our table so we could order dessert. It took another 30 for us to get our dessert and bill. Our primary waiter went MIA and no one seemed to take his place. Very disappointed in the service at the end. Who waits 30 min to come back to a table and take the dessert order?! Our compliments to the chef though, the food was fabulous.
I think I needed to be 50 years older to fit in with the crowd, and I'm 31.
Made the mistake of going on Valentine's Day. I expect that from lower quality places that try to jam everyone in to make a buck on the "holiday". To my surprise Bacchus is not above that. Service was slow to arrive to the table, then rushed once they met with you. Our waiter never asked if we wanted water, never told us about the specials. Once we got our entries we were out of drinks he never asked us if we would like more- we actually had to track him down to ask him for more beverages. He also forgot about the dessert we ordered and then he asked if we wanted a dessert and we told him that we already ordered a dessert at the beginning of the night- then we had to wait 25 minutes for our dessert and he never asked if we wanted coffee with our dessert – which we would have enjoyed. Service was too slow. We were there almost 3 hours and we weren;t eating at that leisurely of a pace. Not much attention paid to our table. When we first were seated we had to wait 10 minutes. I then went and asked a manager to have a waiter come over.
