Professional - and appointments ON TIME. Staff friendly, X-rays taken, very accommodating. The only negative point is that this dentist does not file insurance direct. As a Canadian Military family, this is most definitely a draw-back. The bill has to be paid 'upfront' and then a claim has to be posted back to Canada. This can take up to one month for re-imbursement and even longer if the insurance company has a query on the bill. Service was good. Appt was late to get started. I arrived 5 minutes before my appt and wasn't called back until 15 minutes after my appt time. Not sure if this is normal or not but I could have used that 15 minutes since I left a previous appt early to get there.

POOR COMMUNICATION SKILLS! The facility (Lynn Haven Office) was very nice and clean. My wait was short especially considering I was a new patient. But the communication from Dr. Melzer and the nurse or tech who was assigned to me did a very bad job COMMUNICATING why they were shoving me out the door. When they thought they were going to work on me, they were nice and pleasant. But I needed an oral surgeon and my understanding was that they, Dr. Melzer was qualified to do the surgery but for some reason, he did not want to do... read more

No problem with the procedure, BUT ...... The filling procedure went fine - It only took a couple minutes - No problem with it at all - But - I truly wish, that with all the advances in dental technology, that someone had come up with an ANTIDOTE for the Novocaine I was given - It was easily 5 hours before I could control my lower lip enough to eat ! I can understand that maybe with an extraction or something, you'd want the prolonged numbing, but this wasn't a pain-resulting procedure - I caused more damage to myself, by bi... read more

Painful This was just a semi-annual cleaning but it was an unexpectedly less than pleasant experience. I have been getting my teeth cleaned for decades and normally it is at least a tolerable to pleasant experience and I know that a cleaning does not need to hurt to be effective. The hygienist was pleasant and seemed skilled but the painful probing of the soft tissues was almost immediately unpleasant and lasted throughout the procedure.
