Been here before and it was great ! Got meat loaf yesterday and now I know what "taste like shoe leather" means. Couldn't even cut through it ! Vegitable soup had zero taste. One kind of gravy on the meatloaf, another kind on the potatoes. One of the worst two meals of my life !

We have been to the Black Bear 4 or 5 times. We have invited friends and been embarrassed by the food. My big complaint is that the food and service are very inconsistent. Have had amazing food and service one visit and horrible food and service the next time. I had to send food back because it was cold (ice cold). In general, you just never know if it is going to be a good experience or a sad experience. I guess it depends on if the good cook is working that night. It is like buying a lotto ticket. The Servers are very friendly but the food was semi-warm. It was a very noisy place and very hard to hear your own conversation. I think it was due to the layout of the restaurant it was not that crowded. I don't know if it was because of the time of year but they used to have barbecue sauce, honey and Jelly and other items for sale. This time it was mainly stuffed animals and clothes.
