Good food, great atmosphere, think the server forgot to put in my order as the rest of my party got their food and it was almost 15 more minutes before they brought my breakfast. By that time my wife and I shared her breakfast. Cancelled my plate with no issues. Normally I would be done with a place if they mess up my order but I will try this place again due to the atmosphere and quality of the food.

The food was awesome but the service was quite slow...employees singing "Happy Birthday" all around the restaurant seemed to be slowing things down. Pretty noisy in there too. All that being said, I'll go back again for that delicious food!

Black Bear Madera has been a regular stop, as we live in Madera and options are few. We've never had a bad experience ... until tonight. Its been a while since we've been for dinner, but it looks like some changes have been implemented that definitely make a difference. The two chalkboard specials tonight (7/9) were NY steak with 2 crab cakes OR grilled wild Alaskan salmon with choice of two sides. I asked about the crab cakes; were they real crab or fake crab (surimi). It took a few inquiries between the waitstaff, but... read more
