It appeared that everything was going smoothly, however, when I needed to leave the house for a few minutes due to unforeseen circumstances, I believe this is when the movers decided to go through some boxes. There was nothing in any of the drawers and closets at the "old" house. I found out when we unpacked at the "new" house that I was missing a lot of things, mostly kitchen items and some were of great value (over $400). In over 30 years of doing business, we have never had a theft or a police report filed. Every report of a missing item or box has always been found once all of the unpacking had been completed. When you notified the office about the two missing boxes, our operations manager investigated immediately, even offering to assist your search for the items; the offer was declined. unknown Rep called the sp and sold this deal to mbr. the rep did not let the sp know that the move is long distance. the sp is stating it will be over $2000.00. mbr cannot afford that and is asking for a refund. she said her email is not working right now and is requesting that we expedite the refund so she will have the funds to move

This did not go well from the start of the move to the end. As a matter of fact it is still not going well. The men who arrived to do the packing were upset with the condo rules that didn't let them start until 9:00 AM. The driver stated that it was a pain in the a%$. They were very careless in the packing of our house. When the movers (the same guys) arrived the next day, they were surly and rude. They had a tight schedule and we just didn't fit in with it. Everything went according to schedule. The estimator estimated about 50% less than the actual hours requires for the move. She became very defensive when we questioned her on the dicrepancy. However, when I spoke to management they were very cooperative and made an adjustment on the charge. Moved my houshold (7 rooms) from Reston VA to Ashburn, VA

When I originally worked with the movers in Springfield, Virginia, they told me that a wall would be erected between the two other family?s items to secure all my items from falling over into the next family?s items. Once I met the CARMACK truck in Charlotte, NC, I saw that there never was a permanent wall between my personal items and the others in the truck. I apologize for the several misunderstandings concerning your move from your home in VA to the public storage facility in NC. Multiple shipments in the same truck are indeed separated but 'walls' are not constructed in-between. A detailed inventory is prepared for each shipment and the trailer is loaded for safe transport to destination. When a shipment is delivered to a public storage facility, it is the responsibility of the customer to sign-off on the inventory; making any notation of damage in order to file a claim. A numberof wood furniture pieceswere dented and scratched. Two glass table tops were scratched. 2boxes and 2 lamps were missing. After many communications with office staff, the owner finally called me to settle on a satisfactory amount for the damages. I provided an itemized list with replacement prices and used the repair estimates from their furniture repair company, submitted the amount and Carmack agreed and satisfactorily issued a check for the amount. Carmack Moving was recommended to us by our realtor. They're too expensive. They gave us a quote and swore they've never gone over a quote. They went over by 50%. They damaged so much stuff, furniture and nick nacks. They lost so much stuff, numerous stuff, mugs and china. We even had to call the owner at 3:00 because they wanted to quit because it was going to get dark and they told us it would be a one day move. It actually took three days.
