I've revisited the idea of rhinoplasty on and off almost all my life. I'm 55 and have wanted rhinoplasty since I was 12. I have been researching the procedure, techniques and surgeons for years. I've read every article and watched every video available. Still, this was one of the biggest steps I've made in life. After I thought I'd researched every doctor with high ratings and carefully considered each surgeon's background, certifications, and expertise, I began scheduling consultations. After a few consultations, I decided on the one who I'd ranked the highest and began mentally and financially preparing to take this major life step. My shortlist contained those who checked the most boxes. I spoke to them and decided to move forward and schedule a flight. Still, as an African American woman, I had concerns. I was afraid of ending up with a nose that did not match my face. I wasn't sure my ethnicity would not be erased in an effort to "improve" my nose. So I put everything on pause (again). Then I came across a highly rated doctor I had missed in my research. His reviews were outstanding but what impressed me was his double-board certification, his specialty in nose reshaping, and his approach to ethnic enhancement. Not sure how I missed in my research, but he checked ALL my boxes and more I hadn't considered. He is certified as a plastic surgeon AND an ENT. I struggled to find out what percentage of my shortlist's procedures were actually rhinoplasty (vs. BBLs etc). I learned rhinoplasty is Dr. Kulbersh's specialty and he performs them multiple times per week. I was so impressed with his background, reviews and approach to ethnic enhancement, but it got better. After deciding my shortlist fell short, I noticed the address for Dr. Kulbersh's office was 18 miles from my home. What? I had a virtual consultation within a few days. I met him and his staff within a few weeks and was highly impressed with everyone. Dr. Kulbersh's care in explaining the procedure, talking through my concerns, educating me on symmetry for the best outcome, help set my expectations and fostered trust. I left the in-person consultation confident I had found the right surgeon and the outcome would be good.
My procedure went very well. The entire staff is amazing. My recovery was smoother than I expected and the results exceeded my expectations. I not only recommend Dr. Kulbersh but I encourage anyone, no matter where you are in your process to have a conversation with him before you take another step. If you've struggled with the look of your nose and the insecurity that results, you deserve to get his input and expertise. I feel like I dodged a bullet by discovering Dr. Kulbersh and his staff before taking a life-changing step. I am so happy with my results. It's the right result for my face and it is altogether natural looking to the people closest to me. My rhinoplasty is one of the best decisions I've made for myself. My photo is 4 months post-surgery. I will update at 12 months.
