Our online reservations were confirmed for 11:30. We drovE 100 miles and we were turned away at the door. Told to come back at 12:00. At 12:00 we were turned away again to come back at 4:00. We asked for the Manager & explained we came from Buffalo and our friends came from Cleveland. After 2 different employees ignored us the Manager finally arrived. After speaking with the kitchen they decided to wait on us. Thank goodness.
The Downs Club House is normally packed due to the horse racing meet May-October and tables are pretty hard to come by. In the off season, mid-week, there's no problem with seating. The food is very good, reasonable amount of choices and the price is right. We always enjoy the time spent there.
WE HAVE BEEN BEEN COMING FOR A COUPLE YEARS FOR A TRULY FUN EVENING. HAVE RECOMMENDED YOU TO MANY PEOPLE. WE FIND THE FOOD VERY TASTY, TABLES NICELY SET UP HOWEVER MUST ADMIT THE ONE EXCEPTIONAL FEATURE IS THE SERVERS WITHOUT FAIL THEY HAVE ALWAYS GONE ABOVE AND BEYOND REGARDLESS OF HOW BUSY THEY ARE
We were celebrating my Mother-in laws "90" birthday! We chose seats by the windows to view the horse races. We enjoyed betting on the horses, the area was quite cozy. Our dinner was superb along with the wait staff. Drinks weren't bad either! It was an evening of celebration and fun! We will definitely be back again!
We had a wonderful time with friends over the great dinner and watching the horse races. The table TV monitor's helped when the horses were out of view. It was a very fun evening with a great meal.
Service was great. Love to watch the horse races and share with friends in the excitement!
There were MANY empty tables, and 15 mins. after we were seating they sat a party with a BABY and a TOOTLE, right next to us. I think if there were 8 other tables, WHY. The baby cried and the TOOTLE scream at the horses. If fact they should have NOT be able to be seated in that restaurant.. I was glad when they left to go outside to see the horse, they should have done that to begin with.
Great place to watch the horses and enjoy good food. We ate in the dining room and the prime rib buffet. The buffet was very good.
This is the best place I know of in western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio to watch the horse races, and they are our favorites, the thoroughbreds. They have great food at a reasonable price, with excellent beer on tap, and any mixed drink you could want. There is easy access to betting windows and rest rooms. Excellent service and friendly workers. The Club House is awesome.
