After ten years of help from this building and it’s staff, I’ve seen good and I’ve seen staff having a hard time keeping up. I’ve watched many workers come and go. But seems to me we loss more staff them most other clinics. Having around 12 or more counselors tru the years does not help us feel safe telling people our story over and over only for them to leave the clinic after a short while. I drive a hour one way and put nearly 3 hours of travel in before most folks start their day. I’ve followed the rules and stopped a few fights tru the years. The staff should think how if they can’t last a year at 5 in morning being paid to do it, how hard it is to pay money each day and drive around 50 miles 6 days a week, I’ve not gotten levels due to thc in my drug test. But that’s not why I went for help it was pain pills and meth that was my problem. It’s dangerous on the roads at 3,4 and 5 in the mornings and wish the staff would help us more about not coming when it’s so dangerous cause of bad weather. Every bad morning this year I’ve drove out and back for just the one days meds. I know the state has exceptions for only thc patients and wondering why sometimes we are made to go when the state is fine with a take home but crossroads does not. I know some can’t be trusted with take home. Mostly benzo addiction or alcohol users as it can kill them. But don’t feel someone who has made progress and shown to answer every call and follow rules are held to the same standard as those who threaten their life. Only when state exceptions are allowed and crossroads sets its own standards are the ones I don’t understand. A few years ago crossroads took away the pills and only allowed liquid, hundreds left the next week, we were told state law was the reason but I know it was crossroads choice. Making the people who have taken all dangerous drugs out of their life except THC I don’t think should be made come on very dangerous roads or xtra days even more then the 6 a week we do. I’ve gotten help going to crossroads but if any person isn’t wanting help enough then the clinic will not help. I see staff come and go but I’m there for help and it’s worked for me. But feel punished as if I’m still a threat to myself when driving out of the worst county in NC for bad weather and roads. No way could we ever afford to move so any help with keeping the ones who tru many years of going and following all rules plus shown to be trustworthy with take hones for over a year during COVID still made to drive in the worst weather. I just feel Crossroads’s could comply with state and let us who are no danger to themselves or others any longer be given a take home during days when the National Weather Association are given emergency conditions and not to go out we have shown we are there for more days then anyone who is getting paid to be there deserves a take home at times. I know rules are there for the benefit of all who go, but just ask that our records stand for our recovery and not just a rule that is outdated or makes us put our cars and lives in danger cause of weather when the state is oking us to stay home. I know hundreds of the patients and seen many come and go, we need a stable staff to help us also. Just looks to me that again staff is low and it always makes things a little more stressful when staff is low on patients and the few working there. I appreciate the help I’ve gotten from crossroads, but in reality anyone who isn’t ready for help isn’t going to find it anywhere anyway. Just already driven on days the state was fine with us staying home and hope crossroads staff looks into this before myself or another patient from our area is wreaks or is killed for only one day of medicine. I would appreciate any help. Coming from the mountains of Yancey. Mitchell, and Avery county is several families. We are people doing better and getting our lives back and any help we would all be thankful for.
