TO LIVE AND FRY IN L.A. In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept — take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw — they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.

We finally tried the famous Dave's Hot Chicken and it is lacking. First of all they don't even serve fried chicken, it's all tendies. Then they just throw the dry spices on the tendies, there's no oil or fat, just some dry dust. Then they rest this dusty tendy on a slice of white bread like don't y'all even know what the bread is for? There is nothing to soak up off of this dusty white meat. I expected better from this place considering there are so many other chicken options nearby. Disappointingly, everything about Dave's Hot Chicken was pretty bad . Ordered to go and had to wait over 20 minutes for my slider. When I got home I realized they gave me a single chicken tender instead but they sure did charge me $7+ for it. Overhyped. Fries tasted salty. Tenders were nothing out of the ordinary. Slider was meh. I don't get the hype. By the way watch out on the drive through because right after the window the curb comes out in weird way and I really thought how someone might drive over it or hit it. And it was $20 bucks for a simple menu combo and 1 extra side. So my guess it's that the combo was around $15 bucks.
Had higher hopes! Building look fabulous, food quality, meh, cold. Ordered the single sandwich (medium hot) with FF's. The glass they give you for water is the size of a Dixie cup, way too small. Also, why do businesses that have counter service try to intimidate customers into tipping...especially starting with 18%??!! I am an excellent tipper, but it should be for full service, those employees only make $2.13 an hour. Sadly I will not be a repeat customer.
$15 for two tasteless tenders (medium), fries, bread and drink. The only reason I went through with my order was the amount of time I wasted in the drive through line! I will never return.
