Please read the negative reviews and trust them. I wish I had followed my instinct and avoided this doctor and SCOI. Dr. Auerbach has many bad reviews online and I should have heeded those warnings. Truly one of the worst medical experiences I've ever had. He's arrogant and condescending, as others warned, but I thought this wouldn't really bother me as a character trait as long as he was good as an orthopedic. I learned the hard way that he is distracted, uninterested, rushed, and dangerously sloppy in practice. He injected... read more

Had one visit with him and he spent maybe five minutes with me. It was so rushed. He didn't explain the terms he used. It's like his running subtext is: "Why should I waste my time telling you anything, you're just the idiot patient." He made me retake x-rays that I had JUST taken at my doctor's office (which he had on file.) When I asked why I needed to retake (were my other x-rays poor quality?) he said: "I like ours better." In hindsight, I wish I had refused to retake them. As others have said here, he is very condescend... read more

SCOI was great before their merger with UCLA. I was more than pleased with Dr. Auerbach as a surgeon. But his office is filled with people who want to do as little as possible They throw blame on the patient when they have not communicated properly. But where Auerbach fails is to listen to his patients. He just brushes you off if there is an issue. Doesn't give you the courtesy to Listen to you. Puts you with a PA when you are.recovering from surgery. In the past I would have recommended him. But you would stand a better cha... read more

I have to agree with all the other one star reviews. Dr. Auerbach was so arrogant, rushed me through all of my questions, was incredibly condescending, minimized my concerns ...I warned a friend of mine not to go to him after my horrible experience, unfortunately my friend didn't listen to me, had his hand surgery with Dr. Auerbach and has had NONSTOP PROBLEMS ever since, IT'S BEEN A YEAR. Thankfully I never needed to have that experience myself, I went to Dr. Vanessa Cuellar for my surgery and am doing great. I would never ... read more

I feel the need, after reading Dr Auerbach’s office notes that I need to make an addendum to my previous review. First of all he notes that a complete assessment was made of eyes, ears, pulse, respiration, skin etc. Are you kidding? Second he says that my condition was completely explained to me with an anatomical model and diagram and through xrays. Absolute lie!!!! No explanation whatsoever! I have to explain that I am an RN and I hold my standards of Doctors pretty high. Everyone should. You deserve someone who is patient,... read more

Review for Dr. David Auerbach, Orthopedic Surgeon I have waited a full year to write this review, ultimately deciding it was important for prospective patients to be informed and avoid my experience. I don’t write this lightly. My summary is this: Dr. Auerbach’s arrogance prevented discovery of a major mistake he made in surgery that set my recovery back an entire year, one which required a second surgery (one I elected to be done by a more competent surgeon). I happen to like Dr. Auerbach’s intelligence, sarcasm, and confid... read more

I saw Dr. Auerbach in April 2019 for a broken pinky. I would not recommend him for patients - His bedside manners are awful which also lead into the operating room. I was fully awake during surgery and he was rude to the other nurses, putting them down, impatient for things while I’m there awake and nervous as hell. He was impatient getting my surgery done as well and my nerve block didn’t fully set so I felt much of the procedure and pain. I’ve had to have 2 additional surgeries since to fix a different issue from the surge... read more

As important as it is to be an able and OK surgeon, manner is even more important in those first few minutes when a patient meets the doctor who they really hope will put their mind at ease after having an accident, or whatever the problem is that brought them to him. We as patients look up to him or her. During the first consult, we think how lucky we are to be there, knowing we made the right decision to call this particular doctor, based on past experience with SCOI. Wrong. Wrong with my naivety and wrong with going forwa... read more

His lack of bedside manner was only exceeded by his arrogance. Manner is important. As a patient, you should enter and leave an office knowing that the doctor, and the staff, have your best interest in mind AND you should leave feeling that you are important and well taken care of. I apparently bored the doctor to tears. He couldn't have been less interested in how I was injured, when, where, etc.. He even smirked and shrugged his shoulders when I was explaining how it all happened. His scribe was standing very close to my s... read more
