Discount Power sent me a collection email today saying that my account was being sent to the credit bureaus as delinquent. I have not had service with them in 17 Months. I have received zero emails or contacts from them since I close my account April 12th 2019 and sent them the final payment on April 16, 2019 - proved through BofA online. It is now September 2020. I researched power companies for 2 weeks before I decided on Discount Power. I found a plan charging me approximately 10.2 cents per kilowatt. After I received my second outrageous bill I checked out my bill and they were charging me 12 cents per kilowatt. The New Mexico Power delivery fee was killing me. When I called and complained the customer service rep found a better plan for me. But from what I comprehended I would be paying 13 cents per kilowatt and paying a $200 cancellation fee, too. Will not be renewing!! My first and last year with them. I live in a new community and have not received some mail items. Therefore, didn't get a bill. Still charged me fees.

I signed up for the Discount Power Plan 36 on May 6, 2019. I have the New Plan e-mail and documents to prove it. I was charged the correct rate on my Aug. statement but noticed that on my September statement they charged me the wrong rate and had me on a month to month plan. I called on 9/13/19 and they opened ticket and gave me confirmation #. The autodraft hit on 9/30/19 and charged me the incorrect total. I called on 9/30/19 and spoke to Supervisor Victor. Extremely skeevy company. You can tell because they didn't even bother to update their new address **** ********* *** ******** ** ****** with BBB and show the 5757 Woodway Dr. address. We urge others not to sign up because the chances of getting burned are very high. We had the same experience described elsewhere, where our contract ended with no notice, and we were provided with an exceptionally high bill from then on, that was almost double what we had been paying. This company charged me for the whole month when I started the contract, then when I cancelled the contract on time they charged me additional month for the 7 days which they had already charged me at the beginning. I am requesting correction of my final billing. I used the service for 12 months and not a day more or less, I don't see why I have to pay for 13 months!

They work like a sneaky credit card company. You miss the deadline to renew your contract, and they will charge you for the next month more than your previous 3 months combined.
Sure, this company has lower rates, but their policies and customer service are horrible!! If you're TWO days late on your payment, you receive a disconnect notice AND they CHARGE YOU $20 to send that notice via e-mail. This is for a $35 electric bill. Even ******* ****** will not disconnect anyone for that amount owed. When you call to ask for an extension, they tell you that they CAN'T give approval for a later payment date. They don't care that you have had medical issues and have had to pay out large sums of money to a h... read more
